NO GUN Organisation launches DONE WITH IT DVD ‘GUNS KNIVES DESTROY LIVES’ in the wake of Nottingham’s fatal shooting incident over the Bank holiday weekend in the Lace Market area. Whilst the DWI DVD was booked to premier at Cineworld Cornerhouse Nottingham 7pm Thursday 18th June 2009 a week prior to the shooting, the recent gun fatality of a young 27 year old man only reinforces the need for city officials to maintain momentum in campaigning against guns and knives culture in the city. This has always been NGO’s fear that the lack of focus on gun culture in the light of growing knife crime would eventually manifest into firearms sooner or later.
A spokesperson for NGO said, “this is a sad and discouraging time for all who live in Nottingham however, we must not allow our young people to return to using guns to settle their difference. They need the support of the community more than ever to ensure this is not repeated”.

NO GUN Organisation has won the support of local Kemet Radio Director Franklin Hughes. The community focused radio station held talks with NO GUN Organisation founder Clayton Byfield recently and invited him to make regular appearances on their morning shows as well as co host its Sunday night “Talk Back” show with Jason Steel. Byfield says “Franklin is an extremely passionate and strategic person who I enjoyed talking with. We clearly share the same aims for ethnic people in the Nottingham community at large. Kemet Radio is arguably the best choice to encourage young people within troubled community hot spots to express their concerns to help tackle the gun and knife culture issues. It’s also important to know our ‘DONE WITH IT’ proposition is about positivity and presenting good stuff for young people to get into, so I’m hoping my involvement with Kemet will add value to encourage this”.

NO GUN Organisation Nottingham has rebranded its logo in view of the current knife culture climate. The new look ‘NO-KNIFE-GUN’ logo will replace ‘No Gun Organisation in Nottingham’ trademark as from the 21st July 2008. A Spokesperson for NO GUN Organisation says, “The decision to change was primarily the knife culture that has swept the country since the start of this year. Coupled with rising gun possession, we felt it necessary to visually communicate this more effectively. “By doing so we are able to extend our “DONE WITH IT” trademark proposition on a national level to include retail clothing licensing as a way of raising funds. In local terms, we did receive two official complaints with the recent No Gun Organisation in Nottingham connotation trademark logo and whilst minor our committee panel was not comfortable with this”.
